Album cover

These are examples of hip hop albums made by successful artists. In all these covers, the artist is at the front looking straight into the camera, while this is a common convention of all genres, it is especially prominent in the hip hop genre. The backgrounds usually give a message, or synergise with the songs in the album, or the artist.

In the first one, J.Cole is sitting in a gym changing room. This synergises with the most popular song on the album, Workout. The shot of him is symmetrical, leaving him in the centre, with everything in the background pointing towards him.

The second one is more of a simple cover. The image is a close-up of Mos Def pointing at his eyes. The background is plain as it would be too distracting to have a busy background with a close up image as there isnt much background to be seen.

I like these photos of Warren as he's looking directly into the camera in both. The background in the first one goes well with the video and the idea of him being a British artist However, both images aren't the best quality, meaning they might look unprofessional as an album cover. I'm going to attempt to fix the quality in photoshop, if this works, these pictures will serve well as an album cover.
