Here you can see me in the select and mask mode. This is the more advanced mode of the magic wand tool. It enables me to select a specific part of an image, perfectly selecting the image I want separate to the background.
I used the burn tool to burn the background. This creates a shadow behind Warren, adding depth to the image, stopping it from being a very flat and boring background. I decided to use this method rather than selecting the image and adding an automatic shadow, as I felt this gave me more control over the brightness, and the placement of the shadow. After burning the background, I burned the edges of the pictures of Warren to ensure any brightness around the image was.t noticeable. The dark edges also attract more attention to his face and outfit.
I wanted to keep the CD itself fairly plain, as when I attempted to use images for it, I felt it was too much. I also used a plain colour and found it was too plain, especially against the plain background. I used stripes, which created the perfect balance. The artist name is in black rather than white like on the front, as with this background, the black stands out more.
